Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez walked the red carpet together at the première of her ex-boyfriend’s new film, Abduction. This was the first time the 2 über-famous teens have appeared on the red carpet together. The usually joined-at-the-hip couple prefer to arrive at Hollywood social events separately. They then sit together and afterwards, they make their getaway–er–departure together–usually engaging in some serious PDA along the way. At least that’s been the pattern until the September 15 Abduction première.
Jelena was a feast for the eyes on the red carpet at Grauman’s Chinese Theater. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were both dressed in black on black outfits. The Monte Carlo star “upstaged” her Never Say Never beau by wearing a super short, tight black mini skirt with a black sequined top, and black and nude strappy sandals. JB was “trendy” black pants and matching leather-patched jackets with dark grey, high-top boots and, of course, his trademark sunglasses. Abduction’s star, Taylor Lautner, was almost an afterthought in a rather conservative blue suit.
The question that must be on many minds, but has remained, so far, unasked is: Why did Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez pick this event for their first red carpet stroll? Could it have something to do with the fact that Taylor Lautner is one of Selena Gomez’s 2 famous former boyfriends? (The other is Miley Cyrus’s ex, Nick Jonas.) Could it be that Justin Bieber wanted to arrive on and walk the red carpet with his stunning girlfriend to make a “territorial” statement to her ex, Lautner. It’s possible.
A close examination of some of the red carpet photos of Jelena, which you can view by clicking here, shows what appears to be some tense moments for the world’s second most famous couple. In one pic, Selena looks down to her right as Justin holds her left wrist. She looks decidedly unhappy. Oddly enough, it is only in the posed publicity photos where she is alone, that she seems her poised, smiling, and relaxed self. Was appearing in public with her current boyfriend at her ex’s première causing Selena stress? Or was she simply worried that Justin might be feeling jealous? In the crazy thing called love, anything is possible.
