Alpbach, Austria

Holidays in Austria's most beautiful village: this means fresh air, lush meadows and a breath-taking scenery. The village's character is unique in Europe. Alpbach is also famous for the international congress "European Forum Alpbach" which has been taking place here every summer since 1945 and which is an important platform for economists, scientists, politicians and artists.  Alpbach is just a mountain village, but it's Austria's most beautiful village. Whether you want to hike, cycle, paraglide, play tennis or just relax and recharge - Alpbach is always the right place.

Alpbach has a population of 2,600 and occupies a beautiful location on a sunny plateau at some 1,000m above sea level. Thanks to its homogenous architectural style and lovely floral decorations Alpach was voted "Austria´s most beautiful village" in 1983. On the occasion of the Entente Florale competition Alpbach won the title "Europe´s most beautiful flower village" for its outstanding floral achievements.

There are nearly 50 kilometres slopes for good skiing and snowboarding in Alpbachtal. There are half pipes and beautiful virgin slopes for deep powder-runs. There are two separate parts with ski slopes in Achensee, the Wiedersberger Horn and the Reither Kogel, two gondolas and several chairlifts and plate lifts ensure comfortable transportation. Five chairlifts and nine lifts will take you to the higher-lying areas. Most of the descents in this ski area lead to the village centers. Although for the après ski that is not always necessary, because of the many cozy mountain huts in the Alpbachtal. Because there are many snow canons, the snow conditions are very good.
